Titles
Titles are cosmetic name tags that broadcast what you have accomplished, and the community board documents 50 of them across six broad groups: ranked ELO titles, boss titles, PvP titles, progression and quest titles, gauntlet titles, and shop or event exclusives. Many titles also pay out one-time rewards on unlock - Soul Tokens, Clan Tokens, Hogyoku Shards, even unique equipment like the Prayer Beads or the Broken Medallion.
The single most important rule comes from the board's own disclaimer: most ELO titles are slot-locked, meaning a ranked title only exists on the character slot you earned it on. Exact ELO point thresholds are not published anywhere in the documentation - every ranked title is described as a leaderboard-position reward (for example, Special War Power goes to the top 5 of the overall leaderboard), so your cutoff moves with the competition.
Outside ranked play, titles reward almost every activity in the game: losing a specific fight (The Terrible), breaking an opponent's blade (Bladebreaker), logging 100 or 250 hours (V_V and V_V^2), crafting the Hogyoku (The Architect), or clearing the five endgame gauntlets, which grant Memory equipment with permanent stat bonuses alongside the title itself.

Boss titles
The Wingslayer - defeat the Giant Dragonfly in the Soul Society Outskirts. Rewards: 25 Soul Tokens.
The Terrible - lose a fight against Albrecht the Terrible in Fort Adams. Rewards: Prayer Beads.
The Sharp - defeat Argus the Sharp. Rewards: Accessory Token.
Cleanser of Flesh - defeat The Parasite. Rewards: 100 Soul Tokens, Accessory Token, 2 Dark Essence.
Ashen Conquerer - defeat Calamitas, Cinder of the Broken Sky. Rewards: 175 Soul Tokens, Experimental Hogyoku Shard, Token Booster.
Flamebreaker - defeat Junichiro, the Wandering Swordsman. Rewards: 100 Soul Tokens, Clan Token. Community tip: rotate a team through 1v1s instead of mobbing him.
Forest Guardian - defeat The Masked Warrior. Rewards: 75 Soul Tokens, Clan Token.
Winter's Fall - kill Lord Nivis / beat the Northern Army. Rewards: 75 Soul Tokens, Clan Token.
King of the Swamp - defeat the Scourge of the Marsh (Crocodile King). Rewards: 100 Soul Tokens, Clan Token.
Comitted Warrior - defeat Gelum in the tutorial. Rewards: 25 Soul Tokens, Hogyoku Shard.
PvP titles
Bladebreaker - blade-break another player. Rewards: Experimental Hogyoku Shard. Community tip: drop the enemy to roughly 20-25% health, then green parry until the break - any lower and you parry-execute instead.
Starbreaker - blade-break a Quincy (a 'medallion break'). Rewards: Broken Medallion.
Fatality - rip off a hakuda user's arm (works like blade-breaking). Rewards: 25 Soul Tokens.
Bounty Hunter - reach a 10 killstreak against other players. Rewards: 100 Soul Tokens.
The Reaper - reach a 20 player killstreak. Rewards: 50 Soul Tokens plus an unknown extra reward.
Progression, quest and exploration titles
Novice - finish the tutorial. Rewards: 25 Soul Tokens.
Full Potential - reach level 100 on any slot. Rewards: Ability Token.
Ascension # - ascend at Gelum's Statue after reaching level 100; the number tracks your total ascensions (see the Ascension system for per-tier rewards).
Novice Explorer - discover 10 unique locations. Rewards: 25 Soul Tokens.
Amateur Explorer - discover 20 unique areas. Rewards: Soul Essence.
Blademaster in Training - learn the One-Handed Katana weapon style. Rewards: 25 Soul Tokens, Invasion Bell.
Shrineseeker - use a shrine for the first time. Rewards: Clan Token.
Outskirts Archaeologist - quest reward for finding and using the Refund Shrine in the Soul Society Outskirts. Rewards: Daily Reward Box.
The Hunter of Outskirts - complete The Grey Hunter quest outside the Giant Dragonfly's cave. Rewards: not listed.
Dimensional Traveller - survive the Dangai as a quest reward. Rewards: 25 Soul Tokens, Healing Salve. Community tip: hide in wall holes to dodge the cleaner, then listen for the exit portal.
Tinkerer - craft roughly 10 items. Rewards: none.
The Architect - craft the Hogyoku from 7 Hogyoku Shards. Rewards: 200 Soul Tokens, Soul Essence.
Collector - upgrade your bank to 10 slots. Rewards: 25 Soul Tokens. Community tip: farm Arctic mobs, which drop multiple hollow parts, to fund the upgrades.
V_V - log 100 total hours across all slots. Rewards: Clan Token, Experimental Hogyoku Shard.
V_V^2 - log 250 total hours across all slots. Rewards: 3 Clan Tokens, 3 Ability Tokens.
V_V^3, The Arctic Warrior, Ultimate Lifeform - listed on the board but their obtainment and rewards are still placeholder text.
Gauntlet titles
The Atrocious - beat 'The Terrible' Gauntlet. Rewards: 50 Soul Tokens, Bad Dream - The Atrocious (+3 Equipment Load), 2 Clan Tokens.
Master of War - beat the 'Dangerous Warrior' gauntlet. Rewards: 150 Soul Tokens, Memory - War Master (+1% Weapon damage, +1% Hakuda damage), 2 Clan Tokens, 1 Experimental Hogyoku.
The Beastslayer - beat The Beastslayer gauntlet. Rewards: 150 Soul Tokens, Memory - The Beastslayer (+2.5% Monster Damage), 3 Clan Tokens, 1 Focus Elixir.
The Unparalleled - beat 'Unparalleled Strength'. Rewards: 150 Soul Tokens, Memory - The Unparalleled (-1.8% cooldown length, +5 Shunpo Stamina), 2 Accessory Tokens, 3 Experimental Hogyoku Shards, 1 Token Booster, 2 Ability Tokens.
Seen Beyond - beat 'The Other Side' gauntlet. Rewards: 200 Soul Tokens, Memory - The Other Side (+5 Rei, +2.5 HP), 1 Whetstone, 3 Reiatsu Color Tokens, 3 Ability Rerolls.
Shop, event and exclusive titles
The Champ - purchased from Coach's shop in the Human World for 75 War Medals. Rewards: none beyond the title.
The Observer - purchased from the AFK World shop for 250 AFK Tokens. Rewards: 25 Soul Tokens.
IMMORTALIZED - exclusive to the Founder's Pack bundle. Rewards: none beyond the animated title.
Early Access and Early Access+ - awarded to players who played during the game's Early Access phase. Rewards: 10 Ability Rerolls, 10 Clan Rerolls.
Title names above follow the board's own spelling (e.g. 'Comitted Warrior', 'Ashen Conquerer'), which matches how they appear in-game.
Community notes (Discord)
Community note (starboard, 225 stars): gauntlet titles have been wiped 3 times so far, and a reported bug lets a slot keep THE UNPARALLELED title through a wipe - blocking that slot from ever re-earning the reward. Pending verification.
FAQ
Are titles in VV: Ultimatum permanent?
Most non-ranked titles are permanent once unlocked, but the board's disclaimer warns that most ELO titles are slot-locked - they only exist on the character slot you earned them on, and ranked titles convert to 'Former' variants (Former War Power, Former Captain, Former Espada) when you fall off the leaderboard.
How much ELO do you need for Espada or Captain titles?
No fixed number - the documentation describes every ranked title as a leaderboard-position reward. You need enough ELO to hold a rank on your faction's leaderboard (or top 5 overall for Special War Power), so the effective threshold shifts with the playerbase.
Which titles give the best rewards?
The five gauntlet titles are the standouts: each grants a Memory or Bad Dream equipment piece with permanent stat bonuses (up to +2.5% Monster Damage or -1.8% cooldown length) plus large Soul Token and token bundles. Among casual unlocks, The Architect pays 200 Soul Tokens and a Soul Essence for crafting the Hogyoku.
