Soul Society
Soul Society is the homeland of the Shinigami and one of the game's main hubs. Community documentation describes it as a city of large districts, training grounds and landmarks where Shinigami players pick up quests, advance their Soul Reaper rank and meet other players, making it central to both progression and exploration.
The heart of the city is The Hub, a single district that gathers a Crafting Table, an Animation Vendor, an Item Shop and the Soul Pager vendor (Kou). Around it sit the gate-towers used as mission meeting points, three sparring grounds with training dummies, and a Clothing Store where higher-ranking Shinigami buy cosmetic outfits from a documented 16 sets. Non-Shinigami who die inside the city are locked in its jail cells for a short time (around 8 minutes).
Four squads keep houses here - Squad 11, Squad 4, Squad 8 and Squad 12 - and joining any of them grants a distinct benefit. Note that this is the Shinigami home hub itself, distinct from the separate open-world Soul Society Outskirts region documented elsewhere on the wiki.

FAQ
What can I do in Soul Society?
It is the Shinigami hub: use The Hub's Crafting Table, Item Shop, Animation Vendor and the Soul Pager vendor (Kou), train at the sparring grounds, buy outfits at the Clothing Store, join one of the four squads, and pick up quests such as Balance of Souls.
Which squads can I join in Soul Society?
Squad 11 (Zanpakuto parts 40% more effective), Squad 4 (faster health regen near a Squad 4 member), Squad 8 (extra Kido scaling) and Squad 12 (an extra Spirit Charm slot plus Spirit Charm crafting from Soul Tokens).
Is Soul Society the same as Soul Society Outskirts?
No. This page covers the Shinigami home hub; the Soul Society Outskirts are a separate open-world questing region documented on their own page.
