Dark Essence
UncommonDark Essence is one of the most-demanded materials in the game's crafting web. Community documentation describes it simply as an item used in various quests and crafting recipes, but the documented recipes show how central it is: Spirit Alloy takes 1 Dark Essence (with 2 Soul Essences, Level 13+), the Invasion Bell can be crafted from 2 Dark Essences directly, and the Hollow Soul - the Vastocar upgrade item - consumes 4 alongside Hogyoku Shards and a Soul Chain.
It also has quest demand on top of crafting demand, which means Arrancar players (who need Hollow Souls), invasion players (who burn bells) and quest progression can all be competing for the same stack.
If you truly have surplus, Dark Essence sells for 20 Soul Tokens each - a fair floor price, but given how many recipes route through it, most community advice is to sell conservatively. A short supply of Dark Essence is the classic bottleneck the day you decide to craft a Hollow Soul or restock bells.

Documented recipes include Spirit Alloy (1 essence), the Invasion Bell (2 essences as an alternative recipe) and the Hollow Soul (4 essences). It is also used in various quests.

It sells for 20 Soul Tokens, but because so many recipes and quests demand it, keeping a reserve is usually smarter than liquidating.
