Squad Divisions
Squad Divisions are a permanent build choice, not a PvP prestige tier. You join via a division NPC around level 35 and immediately gain the squad's passive - your character keeps it as long as you stay in the division. This is distinct from the ELO Captain of Squad and Lieutenant of Squad titles, which are earned by ranking on a leaderboard within the division.
Four divisions are documented at release, each with a different passive. Squad 4's allies-heal-near-you aura suits group content and raid support. Squad 6 boosts Kido skilling rate for anyone leveling a Kido-heavy build. Squad 11 adds +40% to your Zonto (build) stat roll - a double-edged pick that amplifies both good and bad rolls, so it rewards planned builds. Squad 12 grants an extra free Spirit Charm notch, letting you slot 4 charms instead of the base 3 (see the Spirit Charms system for how notches interact with charm weights).

How to pick
For raid/PvE support: Squad 4 (heal aura) makes group runs smoother.
For Kido or Shinigami Kido builds: Squad 6 accelerates that progression track.
For high-roll builds with planned stat distribution: Squad 11 magnifies your best rolls (but also your worst - do not pick blind).
For charm-based builds: Squad 12 is straight value - a free 4th notch is significant when a T2 charm can weigh 2-3 notches.
Squad Divisions vs ELO Squad titles
Squad Divisions = joinable military unit around level 35, grants a passive buff. Everyone in the division shares the passive.
ELO Squad titles = Captain of Squad _ and Lieutenant of Squad _, earned by ranking on the division's ELO leaderboard. See ELO Titles for the HP buff table and slot-lock behavior.
You can be Squad 12 without being its Captain; being Squad 12 Captain means you have both the +1 charm notch passive and the +19.6 HP ELO title buff.
FAQ
When do I unlock Squad Divisions?
Around character level 35 - talk to a division NPC in Soul Society to join.
Which squad gives the extra charm notch?
Squad 12 - joining it adds one free Spirit Charm slot (4 total instead of 3).
Is Squad 11's +40% good or bad?
Both. It amplifies whatever Zonto stat roll you have, so it rewards planned builds and punishes bad rolls. Pick after you know your build direction.
