Burrowing
ModifierBurrowing is an Enemy Modifier that lets affected enemies periodically disappear underground, becoming untargetable. Every 8 seconds, a Burrowing enemy burrows for 2 seconds before resurfacing.
Unlike Bulwark, which blocks damage while remaining on the field, Burrowing enemies cannot be targeted at all during their underground window, which also interrupts any ongoing single-target attacks aimed at them.

How Burrowing works
Burrowing enemies cycle on a fixed timer: every 8 seconds, they burrow underground and become untargetable for 2 seconds before resurfacing and becoming targetable again. This repeats throughout the enemy's time on the field.
Because units cannot target an enemy that is untargetable, any unit whose attack was locked onto a Burrowing enemy the moment it burrows has that action wasted or redirected, depending on how the unit's targeting handles a lost target.
How to play around Burrowing
AoE units that hit an area rather than locking onto a single target keep dealing damage to other enemies nearby while a Burrowing enemy is underground, making mixed single-target and AoE lineups more consistent against Burrowing groups than pure single-target setups.
FAQ
What does Burrowing do in Anime Expeditions?
Burrowing is an Enemy Modifier that makes affected enemies untargetable for 2 seconds every 8 seconds while they burrow underground.
Can Burrowing enemies still move while underground?
The client data specifies untargetability during the burrow window rather than a movement change, though the enemy remains out of reach for targeting during that time.
How do I deal with Burrowing enemies?
Favor AoE units that continue hitting other targets in the area rather than relying solely on single-target units that lose their lock when a Burrowing enemy goes underground.
