Gelum's Pass (Tutorial)
Gelum's Pass is every player's first zone: the tutorial. The community screenshot shows a towering, snow-caked gorge under a night sky, with a colossal frozen gate built into the ice wall and student characters dwarfed at its base - the 'spirit in the blizzard' setting that the Humble Beginnings quest text refers back to.
Mechanically, the pass hosts Kuchiki's combat tutorial. During it you fight the first boss of the game, Gelum - described in the community's Gauntlet documentation as a simple tutorial boss designed to get players used to the feel of combat and introduce humanoid PVE/PVP. The fight can be completed or skipped; defeating Gelum properly awards the 'Comitted Warrior' title with 25 Soul Tokens and a Hogyoku Shard.
Finishing (or skipping) the tutorial grants Humble Beginnings and, after the Gelum fight, The Start of Your Training plus an Intelligence Extract - the first of three extracts for the Refund Shrine. Gelum's presence lingers long after you leave: his statue at Fort Adams anchors both the Gauntlet and the level 100 Ascension questline.

FAQ
Should I fight or skip Gelum in the tutorial?
Fighting is worth it - defeating Gelum awards the 'Comitted Warrior' title with 25 Soul Tokens and a Hogyoku Shard. Skipping still advances you to the same quests.
Can I return to Gelum's Pass later?
The community documentation does not record a way back; the zone's content continues through Gelum's statue at Fort Adams, where the Gauntlet and Ascension questlines pick the story up.
