Tier 2Side Character leans into a self-deprecating joke - "If you're already bad at PVP, you could always stick to PVE." - and prices it accordingly: you deal 7.5% more damage to NPCs, and you take 4% more damage from players. Community documentation even preserves a chat screenshot of a player with the fitting handle protesting "im no sidecharacter".
As a pure PvE farming charm the trade is strong: bosses, enemies, and mission targets all fall under the NPC bonus, accelerating grinding, quests, and boss farming with zero downside while no hostile players are around. The 4% player vulnerability is the standing invitation for trouble - on invasion-heavy servers or in contested zones, you are measurably softer against exactly the opponents most likely to seek you out mid-farm.
It pairs conceptually with Giant Fighter (bonus boss damage in Tier 1) for dedicated PvE loadouts, with the same caveat: swap out before deliberate PvP. Side Character requires Level 10 and weighs 1 wt.; its zone and drop or vendor source are not documented in current community documentation.
