Trait System
Every summon in Anime Expeditions has a 75% base chance to roll a Trait on the unit obtained, and traits can also be rerolled afterward by spending a Trait Crystal on a chosen unit. The trait pool has 17 known entries split across three rarities: seven Rare traits covering small Damage, Range, Speed (SPA), and Enlightenment bonuses at chances between roughly 7% and 14.64% each, six Legendary traits offering stronger single-stat or crit-focused bonuses at 2% to 6% chances, and four Mythic traits that combine multiple stat bonuses into one powerful package at chances between 0.1% and 0.5%.
The four Mythic traits each carry their own pity counter, independent of both each other and of the gacha rarity pity system: Draconic guarantees at 300 rerolls, Forsaken at 500, Primordial at 750, and Unbound, the single best trait in the game, at 1,500 rerolls. Unbound grants a massive 350% Damage increase alongside a Range boost and a small SPA reduction, but is restricted to a single placement of that unit at a time, a tradeoff that keeps its raw power in check.
Because Trait Crystals are a limited resource earned through quests, the Battle Pass, codes, and events rather than freely farmable, most players reserve rerolling for a small handful of units already locked into their core team rather than gambling on every new pull. Reaching a Mythic trait's pity counter through sheer reroll volume is a long-term investment, particularly for Unbound's 1,500-reroll pity, making it one of the more significant currency sinks in the game outside the gacha banners themselves.

Trait tiers explained
Rare traits are the most common outcome by far and grant small, single-purpose bonuses like +5% or +10% Damage, making them a baseline rather than a meaningful power spike. Legendary traits step up to more specialized bonuses, including Investor's money-farm income boost and Precision's combined crit chance and crit damage bonuses, useful for building dedicated economy or crit-focused units. Mythic traits are where the system's real power lives, stacking two or three stat bonuses into one trait and, in Unbound's case, delivering by far the largest single Damage multiplier in the entire trait pool.
Reroll and pity strategy
Because each Mythic trait's pity is tracked separately, a player chasing Unbound specifically needs to commit 1,500 rerolls on Trait Crystals toward one unit without switching targets, since rerolling a different unit does not contribute to that pity. Given how limited Trait Crystal income typically is relative to that number, most guides recommend reserving Trait Crystal spending for a confirmed main damage dealer rather than spreading rerolls thin across the roster.
Trait tier list
Mythic (0.1% to 0.5%) - Unbound: +350% Damage, +10% Range, -5% SPA, single placement only. Draconic, Forsaken, and Primordial: multi-stat Mythic bonuses below Unbound's ceiling, each with its own dedicated pity. Legendary (2% to 6%) - Limit Breaker, Investor, Bolt, Optics, Precision 1, Precision 2: specialized single or dual-stat bonuses, no dedicated pity of their own. Rare (7% to 14.64%) - Strength 1, Strength 2, Range 1, Range 2, Speed 1, Speed 2, Enlightenment: small, common baseline bonuses that make up the bulk of trait rolls.
Reroll cost per trait pool
Chasing a Rare or Legendary trait has no dedicated pity counter, so it comes down to raw luck on each Trait Crystal spent, with the combined 7 Rare traits landing on roughly 73.9% of rerolls and the 6 Legendary traits on roughly 25%. Mythic traits are the only pool with a guaranteed floor: Draconic's 300-reroll pity is the cheapest Mythic to guarantee, Forsaken's 500 and Primordial's 750 sit in the middle, and Unbound's 1,500-reroll pity is by far the most expensive single target in the entire trait system, more than triple Draconic's guarantee.
FAQ
What is the best trait in Anime Expeditions?
Unbound is the strongest known trait, granting +350% Damage and a Range bonus, though it is restricted to a single placement of the unit holding it and has the longest pity of any trait at 1,500 rerolls.
How do I reroll a Trait?
Spend a Trait Crystal on a chosen unit to roll a fresh Trait. Trait Crystals themselves are earned through quests, the Battle Pass, codes, and events rather than being freely available.
Is Unbound worth rolling for?
For a dedicated main damage dealer, yes, since its 350% Damage bonus is unmatched by any other trait, but its 1,500-reroll pity makes it a long-term investment best reserved for a unit the player is committed to using long-term.
Do all Mythic traits have their own pity?
Yes. Primordial, Forsaken, Draconic, and Unbound each track a separate reroll pity counter, so working toward one Mythic trait does not progress the others.
How many traits are in Anime Expeditions?
17 known traits total: 7 Rare, 6 Legendary, and 4 Mythic.
What is the cheapest Mythic trait to guarantee?
Draconic, with a 300-reroll pity, the shortest of the four Mythic traits, well ahead of Forsaken's 500, Primordial's 750, and Unbound's 1,500.
What do Legendary traits do?
Legendary traits offer stronger, more specialized bonuses than Rare traits, including Investor's money-farm income boost and Precision 1 and Precision 2's combined crit chance and crit damage bonuses, without reaching the multi-stat power of a Mythic trait.
