Anime Expeditions currently has 14 fully statted units at Mythic rarity or above (Mythic, Exclusive and Secret), and deciding which ones to evolve first is one of the biggest resource decisions a roster faces once Sprite materials start capping out. This tier list narrows the scope to just that top slice of the roster and ranks it using numbers pulled directly from the client data: max-tier damage divided by SPA as a rough damage-per-second reference, passive power, hitbox coverage and how much an evolution actually adds.

This is a stat-grounded companion to the wiki's general Tier List page, not a replacement for it. The general page tracks the full roster across every rarity and stays cautious about meta claims while post-launch balance data is still settling; this page stays narrower on purpose, covering only the top-rarity units and grounding every placement in a stat you can verify yourself rather than competitive win-rate claims. Four Secret and Mythic entries (Bat Spirit, Winged Spirit (Divine), Spirit General (Divine) and Spirit Wolf (Divine)) are passive summons tied to Shadow and Cursed Student's kits rather than gacha-pullable units, so they are left out of the ranking below.

How this tier list is built

Every unit below is ranked using its evolved form's max tier stats where an evolution exists, since that is the ceiling a fully invested roster slot actually reaches. The damage-per-second figure quoted for each unit is simply that unit's listed Damage divided by its SPA (seconds per attack) at max tier, a useful apples-to-apples reference but not a full combat simulation, since it ignores hitbox width, hit count against multiple enemies and passive triggers that fire independently of the base attack.

Placement count matters as much as raw numbers. A unit with modest per-hit damage but five placements, like Flame Emperor, can out-damage a single high-roll unit once its whole squad is on the field, so placement limits are called out wherever they change the picture.

S Tier: the strongest Mythic-and-above units

Puppet (Telekinetic), Mythic, Psychic archetype, Light element. At T8 it hits 5,093 Damage on a 9-second SPA, roughly 566 DPS, the highest raw damage stat of any unit reviewed here. Marionette's Gaze marks the strongest nearby enemy for +20% incoming damage from the whole team, and Puppet Creation summons a Doll worth 150% of current Damage as HP when a Marked target dies, giving it both single-target burst and a team-wide damage amplifier in one kit.

8th Sword (Berserk), Secret, Physical archetype, Neutral element. T10 reaches 3,794 Damage at an 8.4-second SPA, about 452 DPS, and its passives compound under pressure: Demonic Presence ticks 5% of current Damage per second against everything within 40% of its range, Dismemberer's Rush adds a Follow Up hit at 100% Damage against enemies under 10% HP, and The Nameless Demon triggers a 15-second Berserk State after 25 Takedowns for +20% Damage and Dismember on every attack.

String Demon (Awakened), Mythic, Magical archetype, Neutral element. T9 sits at 2,379 Damage on a 6-second SPA, about 397 DPS, paired with genuine crowd control: Cocoon of Carnage stuns after six attacks land, and String Sync attaches to up to three nearby allies so its own Regular Attacks trigger Follow Up hits at 100% of their Damage, effectively multiplying the whole team's output.

A Tier: excellent roster anchors

Crimson (Brother), Exclusive, Magical archetype, Dark element. T9 Damage of 1,867 on a 4.8-second SPA is about 389 DPS, and Crimson Pool adds a lingering damage-over-time field on top of Crimson Explosion's Mark-and-detonate combo.

Elf Mage (Unleashed), Mythic, Magical archetype, Storm element. T8 Damage of 3,000 on a 9.2-second SPA is about 326 DPS, but its real value is the Arcane Spells chain: Follow Up spells fire at 3, 5 and 7 Arcane Charges, including a full-width AoE at 100% current Damage, making it one of the strongest wave-clear units in this list.

Lady Giant (Envy), Mythic, Physical archetype, Terra element. T8 Damage of 2,860 on a 10.6-second SPA is about 270 DPS, lower attack speed than most of this list, but Stone Wall summons tanky blockers every 15 seconds and the Rock Storm Follow Up scales to 125% Damage in Giant Form, giving it a hybrid damage-and-tank profile the pure DPS units above don't have.

Shadow (Divine), Secret, Magical archetype, Dark element. T10 Damage of 1,495 on a 6-second SPA is about 249 DPS on the base unit alone, but Winged Spirit and Wolf Spirit both spawn independently upgradable summons that add sustained damage and a Stun on top, so its effective field output runs well past the raw number.

B Tier: strong but situational

Cursed Student (True Love), Mythic, Physical archetype, Dark element. T8 Damage of 1,482 at a 7-second SPA is about 212 DPS, with Cursed Mimicry copying a portion of the closest ally's attack type every third hit, a passive that scales better in a team full of varied attack types than in isolation.

Flame Emperor (Reincarnate), Mythic, Magical archetype, Flame element. Its solo T8 stat line, 518 Damage on a 6.3-second SPA, looks weak next to the units above, but Flame Emperor is the only unit on this list with a 5-unit placement cap, and Wildfire spreads Fire to three additional nearby enemies per hit. A full five-placement squad turns modest per-unit numbers into some of the widest sustained burn coverage in the game.

Hollow (Blaze), Mythic, Physical archetype, Flame element. T9 Damage of 1,388 at a 7.3-second SPA is about 190 DPS, with Attack Flames converting Fire stacks into bonus Austere Flames damage against anything it hits while already burning.

Reaper (Released), Mythic, Physical archetype, Light element, evolved from a base Legendary Reaper, the only unit on this list whose evolution changes its rarity tier outright. T9 Damage of 1,058 at a 6-second SPA is about 176 DPS, and Critical Tempo snowballs attack speed on crits while Mirage Swap cleanses Stun by swapping position with a Clone.

True Saint (Holy), Exclusive, Magical archetype, Light element. T11 Damage of 1,145 at a 7.8-second SPA is about 147 DPS on Regular Attacks, but Predictive Calculation Marks up to five enemies and a Critical Attack detonates all of them for bonus damage at once, so its real ceiling is a burst number well above its per-hit average.

C Tier: niche roles worth owning anyway

Salmon Sorcerer (Grade 1), Mythic, Magical archetype, Gale element. T9 Damage of 1,178 at a 7-second SPA is about 168 DPS, the lowest DPS figure among the evolved Mythic units here, but Plummet applies Stagger whenever an enemy enters half its range, useful crowd control on stages with fast rushers.

Toy Maker, Exclusive, Psychic archetype, Dark element. Toy Maker doesn't attack directly; Build-a-toy spawns a Toy on every enemy path instead, with the Toy's HP set to 100% of Toy Maker's current Damage stat, so its listed 3,804 Damage at T6 describes tanking power rather than a kill number. It has no confirmed evolution yet and a hard 1-placement cap, making it a specialist lane-blocker rather than a core damage pick.

Should you evolve a unit before judging its tier

Every ranking above uses evolved-form stats, and the gap between a base form and its evolved version is large: 8th Sword jumps from T8 to T10, Elf Mage from T6 to T8, True Saint from T8 all the way to T11. A base-form Mythic sitting unevolved in your roster will underperform this list badly, so treat these placements as a target to build toward rather than what you should expect from a fresh pull. See the evolution guide for the exact Sprite, Gold and unique-item cost behind every one of the 13 confirmed evolutions.

How Trait and element rolls shift these rankings

A unit's placement here assumes an average Trait roll. Landing Unbound, the game's strongest Trait at +350% Damage, on any S or A Tier pick pushes it well past everything else on this list, while the weekly Elemental Weather event can temporarily favor whichever element it targets that week regardless of tier. Treat this page as a baseline for investment priority, not a fixed hierarchy that ignores your own Trait rolls and the current week's element buff.

FAQ

What is the best Mythic unit in Anime Expeditions?

Puppet (Telekinetic) posts the highest raw damage-per-second figure of any evolved Mythic-and-above unit, at roughly 566 DPS from 5,093 Damage on a 9-second SPA, backed by a team-wide Mark that boosts incoming damage from every unit in range.

Is 8th Sword or Shadow the better Secret unit?

8th Sword (Berserk) has the higher raw damage-per-second at roughly 452 versus Shadow (Divine)'s roughly 249, but Shadow's Winged Spirit and Wolf Spirit summons add meaningful sustained damage and a Stun on top of its base number, so the two occupy S and A Tier respectively for different reasons rather than a clean better-or-worse comparison.

Why isn't Flame Emperor ranked higher despite being Mythic rarity?

Flame Emperor's single-unit damage-per-second is the lowest on this list, but it is also the only unit here with a 5-unit placement cap and a Wildfire passive that spreads to three additional enemies per hit, so its real value comes from stacking multiple copies rather than its solo stat line.

Does evolving a unit change its tier ranking?

Yes, dramatically. Every placement on this list uses a unit's evolved-form stats where an evolution exists, and the jump from base to evolved form is large, for example True Saint gains three additional tiers when it evolves into True Saint (Holy). An unevolved Mythic underperforms this ranking.

Are Bat Spirit and the Divine summon units ranked here?

No. Bat Spirit, Winged Spirit (Divine), Spirit General (Divine) and Spirit Wolf (Divine) are passive summons spawned automatically by Shadow's and Cursed Student's own passives rather than units you pull or place directly, so they are excluded from this pullable-unit ranking.

What is the strongest Exclusive-rarity unit?

Crimson (Brother) leads the three Exclusive-rarity units at roughly 389 DPS with a stacking damage-over-time passive, ahead of True Saint (Holy)'s burst-focused Mark detonation and Toy Maker's tanking-focused Toy summons.

Does the weekly element buff change this tier list?

It can temporarily push a unit above its listed tier if that unit's element is the one currently featured by the Elemental Weather event, since the event grants roughly a 15% extra weakness against that element in most non-competitive content. This list reflects baseline stats without factoring in a specific week's buff.

Is this the same as the site's main Tier List page?

No. The main Tier List page covers the full roster across all rarities and stays deliberately cautious on meta rankings while post-launch balance data settles. This page is narrower by design, covering only fully statted Mythic-and-above units and grounding every placement in verifiable max-tier stats rather than a competitive meta claim.
