Black Goggles
CommonThe Black Goggles are the defensive member of the three Common black face items, pairing +1 Max Posture with +0.5% Melee Defense. Max Posture raises the ceiling of your guard meter - more posture means absorbing more hits before a guard break - and the goggles are the only documented face item at any tier that carries the stat, which gives this humble Common piece a small unique niche.
Within the trio, the Black Visor takes weapon offense (+0.5% Weapon Damage) and the Black Blindfold takes Kido offense (+0.5% Kido Damage, +0.5% Melee Defense); the goggles are what you wear while learning the parry-and-posture combat system, when surviving mistakes matters more than marginal damage. All three drop from various chests with no documented zone, rate, level requirement or equipment load.
Upgrades are less direct than for their siblings since no higher-tier face item carries Max Posture - moving up means trading the stat away for the Rare tier's percentage packages like the Chaos Shades (+4% Posture Regen, +2.5% Kido Defense, +0.5% Weapon Damage). Modifier rolls (Steadfast's Max Posture listing fits best) can theoretically appear, with Tailor rerolls at 400-500 Soul Tokens rarely worth it on Common gear.
