Experimental Hogyoku Shard (Weapon Reroll)

Rare
verified 2026-07-09 · VV: Ultimatum consumables

Experimental Hogyoku Shard is a Rare consumable in VV: Ultimatum that rerolls your weapon, obtained from Daily Rewards, Raid Chests, The Hogyoku wish or microtransactions.

The Experimental Hogyoku Shard is the weapon-side counterpart to the Ability Token: each shard lets you reroll your weapon. Since weapon type shapes your moveset, criticals and stat scaling, these shards are the main tool for escaping a weapon roll that does not fit your build.

Community documentation lists four sources. Daily Rewards and Raid Chests are the steady free routes, microtransactions are the paid shortcut, and The Hogyoku offers the best bulk deal in the game - its 'I want 7 experimental shards' wish converts one Mythical wish into seven weapon rerolls. On top of that, the Ascension prestige system includes 3 Experimental Hogyoku Shards in each documented reward bundle (Ascension 1 and Ascension 2).

The 'experimental' in the name distinguishes it from the Hogyoku Shard material - a Legendary crafting component used for Hogyoku Fragments and Hollow Souls - and from The Hogyoku itself. Only the Experimental variant performs weapon rerolls, so do not confuse the three when trading or crafting.

FAQ

What does the Experimental Hogyoku Shard do?

It grants one weapon reroll - use it to reroll which weapon your character wields.

Is it the same as a Hogyoku Shard?

No. The Hogyoku Shard is a Legendary crafting material (used for Hogyoku Fragments and Hollow Souls); the Experimental Hogyoku Shard is the Rare consumable that rerolls your weapon.
