Duo Tournament
Duo Tournament is the paired weekly ladder that sits at layout order two in the tournament UI. It requires an active two person team (the RequiresTeam flag is on), locks that team on join, and scores both players on shared Total Damage and Total Kills across the seven day season. Duo is the only tournament format that gates access behind a locked partner, so your queue partner cannot be swapped mid season.
The seed offset for Duo runs on 123456789, so its rotating buff and debuff modifiers do not overlap with Solo. The same buff and debuff pool applies (buffs swing between minus 75 and plus 50 percent, debuffs between minus 150 and plus 75 percent) and the ExtraModifiers slot rolls between None and Traitless every season. That means Duo teams sometimes have to compete without their trait effects, which flips the meta toward units with strong innate scaling.
Rewards mirror Solo but reflect the shared trophy: both duo members receive the same payout, and Rank 1 pays two Seasonal skins, 10000 Gems, 75 Trait Rerolls, 750 Crowns and the Tournament Conqueror Duo title, a variant of the Solo title that reads as a duo achievement. Percentile bands below the top five mirror the Solo ladder, so consistent duos who finish above the fiftieth percentile still bank thousands of Gems and dozens of Trait Rerolls.

How it works
Duo Tournament requires a formed two player team before you can join, and that team locks in the moment you queue, so there is no swapping partners partway through the season.
Two modifiers roll each season from the shared buff and debuff pools, running on a separate seed offset from Solo Tournament so the two ladders rarely land on the same buffs and debuffs in the same week.
The Extra Modifiers slot alternates between None and Traitless every season, which means some weeks force both players onto the field without their equipped trait effects active.
Rewards
Rank 1 pays two Seasonal skins, 10000 Gems, 75 Trait Rerolls, 750 Crowns and the Tournament Conqueror Duo title, with both members of the winning team receiving the same full stack. Below the top five ranks, Duo pays on percentiles that mirror the Solo ladder.
Top 5 percent (95 to 100): 8000 Gems, 50 Trait Rerolls, 500 Crowns per player
Top 10 percent (90 to 95): 7500 Gems, 30 Trait Rerolls, 200 Crowns per player
Top 20 percent (80 to 89.99): 7000 Gems, 25 Trait Rerolls, 125 Crowns per player
Top 30 percent (70 to 79.99): 3000 Gems, 20 Trait Rerolls, 75 Crowns per player
Top 40 percent (60 to 69.99): 2500 Gems, 15 Trait Rerolls, 70 Crowns per player
Lower bands continue to pay Gems and Trait Rerolls at reduced stacks
Best strategy
When the season's Extra Modifier lands on Traitless, prioritize units whose base kit numbers carry the team, since trait bonuses will not apply for either player that week.
Outside of Traitless weeks, pair one heavy Damage focused DPS with a partner who leans into wave clear for Total Kills, since the shared score rewards covering both metrics rather than doubling up on one.
Check both rotating modifiers before committing to a comp. A debuff that guts a stat like Range can force a rebuild even for an otherwise strong duo.
Schedule
Duo Tournament runs on a fixed seven day season, so a new bracket with fresh modifiers opens every week.
It sits at layout order two in the tournament menu, right after Solo Tournament, giving teams a predictable weekly rhythm to plan a partner and roster around.
FAQ
How do I join the Duo Tournament in Anime Expeditions?
You need an active two player team before you can queue, since Duo Tournament requires a formed team and locks it in as soon as you join. Once your team is locked you cannot swap your partner for the rest of the seven day season.
What is the reward for winning the Duo Tournament?
The Rank 1 duo splits two Seasonal skins, 10000 Gems, 75 Trait Rerolls, 750 Crowns and the Tournament Conqueror Duo title, with both members of the winning team receiving the full stack. Rank 5 still nets both Seasonal skins plus 9000 Gems, 50 Trait Rerolls and 500 Crowns.
How long does a Duo Tournament season last?
Each Duo Tournament season runs for seven days before the leaderboard resets and rewards are paid out. A fresh pair of rotating modifiers rolls in at the start of every new season.
How does Duo Tournament scoring work?
Duo Tournament scores each team on combined Total Damage and Total Kills across the whole season, with both players contributing to one shared total. Because the score is shared, coordinating who leans into damage output versus who stacks kills matters more than solo pushing.
Which units are best for Duo Tournament in Anime Expeditions?
Because the Extra Modifiers slot can roll Traitless for the week, Duo Tournament sometimes strips every unit's trait effect, so units with strong innate base scaling hold up better than trait-dependent picks. On normal weeks, pairing a hard hitting DPS with a support that boosts both teammates covers the shared Total Damage and Total Kills score.
