Anime Expeditions Gem Farm Methods Ranked by Efficiency
Gems are the currency behind the Standard and Mini banners, so farming them efficiently directly controls how fast you can chase pity on a Mythic or Secret unit. Anime Expeditions has several Gem sources, but they are not close to equally efficient, and the biggest gains come from one-time rewards that new players often burn through without maximizing.
This guide orders every Gem source from highest to lowest priority, with exact per-run figures pulled from the game's reward data so you can compare repeatable farm routes on an hourly basis.
Priority 1: Gem Challenges (one-time, daily-limited)
Gem Challenges are short objective-based runs, roughly 3 minutes each, that pay out up to 1,000 Gems per challenge with a daily limit of 10. Clearing a full day's worth takes about 30 minutes for roughly 10,000 Gems, the best Gems-per-minute rate in the game by a wide margin.
Because the daily limit resets, this is not a one-time reward in the strictest sense, but it is capped low enough per day that it should always be your first stop before any repeatable farming route.
Priority 2: first-time act clears (one-time)
Every story act pays a large first-clear bonus on top of its normal reward: 300 Gems on Normal and 400 Gems on Hard, each only once per act. Repeat clears drop down to the much smaller Normal or Hard per-run rate covered below.
With roughly 25 story acts at launch, clearing every act once on both Normal and Hard is worth on the order of 17,500 Gems in one-time bonuses alone, without a single repeat run. This is the single highest-value block of Gems available to a new account and should be finished before you settle into any repeat-farm loop.
Priority 3: quests, milestones, battle pass and codes
After challenges and first clears, the next Gems come from questlines, one-time account milestones, battle pass tiers and redeemed codes. None of these are repeatable farm routes, but they should be cleared out before you start grinding, since they are effectively free Gems for progress you are making anyway.
Priority 4: repeatable farming (Infinity Mode, Hard Story, Mastery, Raid)
Once the one-time sources above are exhausted, farming becomes a question of Gems per hour. Infinity Mode is the strongest repeatable source once your team can hold, at roughly 3,000 Gems per hour, but it gives no Gems at all for the first several waves, so it only pays off once your team survives long enough to reach its scoring waves.
If your team cannot yet hold in Infinity Mode, Hard Story is the fallback: repeat clears pay 100 Gems per run at roughly 2 minutes 25 seconds per clear, which works out to about 2,483 Gems per hour of continuous farming.
Normal Story repeat clears pay 75 Gems per run at roughly 2 minutes 17 seconds per clear, or about 1,971 Gems per hour, making it the weakest of the three main repeatable routes but still usable if your team cannot yet clear Hard.
Mastery Mode pays 100 Gems per clear at roughly 2 minutes 55 seconds per run, and its main draw is the crafting materials it drops alongside the Gems, not the Gem rate on its own.
Raid mode pays 125 Gems per clear at roughly 4 minutes per run, a slower Gems-per-hour rate than Hard Story. Treat Raid primarily as a source of its unique drops (including the Soul Reaper Cyborg skin from the Spirit City Raid Shop) rather than a Gem farm.
The single best AFK route: a Frieren-themed legend stage
Independent of the priority order above, one specific legend stage built around the Elf Mage unit line is commonly cited as the best low-effort AFK farm: roughly 100 Gems and 100 Gold per clear in under 2 minutes, or about 3,000 Gems and 3,000 Gold per hour simultaneously. Because it pays both currencies at once and needs minimal active input once your team is strong enough to clear it, it is worth setting up as your default background farm once available.
FAQ
What is the fastest way to farm Gems in Anime Expeditions?
Daily Gem Challenges first (up to 10,000 Gems in about 30 minutes), then first-time clears of every story act on Normal and Hard (roughly 17,500 Gems total, one-time). Only after both are exhausted should you move to repeatable farming.
How many Gems per hour does Hard Story farming give?
About 2,483 Gems per hour, based on 100 Gems per clear at roughly 2 minutes 25 seconds per run. Normal Story gives about 1,971 Gems per hour (75 Gems per run at roughly 2 minutes 17 seconds).
Is Raid mode good for farming Gems?
Not compared to Hard Story or Infinity Mode. Raid pays 125 Gems per clear at around 4 minutes per run, a slower rate than Hard Story. Raid is better farmed for its unique item and skin drops than for Gems specifically.
