Anime Expeditions Gacha Strategy: When to Pull and When to Save

verified · updated 2026-07-18 · Anime Expeditions

Anime Expeditions runs three separate summon banners, and confusing their pity systems is one of the most common ways new players waste Gems. The Standard and Mini banners both take Gems and share the same base rarity odds, but only the Standard Banner can drop a Secret unit. The Beginner Banner runs on a separate currency (Beginner Tickets) with its own, far more generous pity.

This guide breaks down the exact numbers behind all three banners, extracted directly from the game's client data, and lays out a practical framework for deciding when to spend Gems now versus bank them toward a pity target.

Standard Banner: rates and pity

The Standard Banner costs 50 Gems per summon and refreshes its featured lineup every hour. Base rates are Rare 74.676%, Epic 15.06%, Legendary 10%, Mythic 0.25% and Secret 0.01%.

Pity thresholds: a guaranteed Legendary within 50 summons, a guaranteed Mythic within 400 summons, and a guaranteed Secret within 10,000 summons. Pity resets whenever you receive a unit of that rarity, whether it came from luck or from hitting the pity counter itself.

The Standard Banner is the only banner with a chance at Secret-rarity units and is where the Divine Fortune title (Shiny Secret pull) and 8th Sword or Divine Controller titles (from specific Secret units) become possible.

Mini Banner: rates and pity

The Mini Banner also costs 50 Gems per summon but refreshes twice as often, every 30 minutes instead of every hour. Base rates are Rare 74.676%, Epic 15.06%, Legendary 10% and Mythic 0.25%, identical to Standard for those tiers, but Mini cannot drop a Secret unit at all.

Pity thresholds match Standard for the tiers it can drop: guaranteed Legendary within 50 summons, guaranteed Mythic within 400.

Because Mini and Standard share the same odds for Rare through Mythic, the only reason to prioritize one over the other is the featured lineup on offer that hour, or whether you are specifically chasing a Secret unit (Standard only).

Beginner Banner: rates and pity

The Beginner Banner spends Beginner Tickets, not Gems, and its lineup is locked to a curated set of launch units rather than rotating. Base rates are Rare 85%, Epic 10%, Legendary 4.9% and Mythic 0.1%.

Its pity is much shorter than the Gem banners: a guaranteed Legendary within 20 pulls and a guaranteed Mythic within 50. Because the game's own beginner quests hand out enough tickets to reach that 50-pull pity, most new accounts get a free, guaranteed Mythic unit within their first couple of days.

When to pull versus when to save

Spend Beginner Tickets as soon as you have them; the Beginner Banner's lineup and pity are both generous enough that there is little reason to sit on the currency.

For Gems, the practical break-even point is your pity counter. If you are already within a summon or two of a guaranteed Legendary (50) or Mythic (400) on Standard or Mini, finishing that batch is close to a sure thing. If you are early in a pity cycle, consider saving toward a specific featured rotation instead of pulling piecemeal.

If you specifically want a Secret unit, only the Standard Banner counts toward that pity (10,000 summons), so splitting Gems between Standard and Mini slows that particular goal even though it does not affect your Mythic or Legendary pity, since those thresholds are tracked the same way on both banners.

Because pity is preserved and resets only on a matching pull, there is no benefit to spreading pulls across many short sessions versus pulling in bulk. The banner screen's own summon-at-max-pull option exists specifically to speed this up.

FAQ

What is the difference between the Standard and Mini banners?

They share identical Rare through Mythic rates and pity, both cost 50 Gems per summon, but Mini refreshes twice as fast (every 30 minutes versus every hour) and cannot drop a Secret unit. Only Standard can drop Secret.

How many pulls until a guaranteed Mythic?

400 summons on the Standard or Mini banner, or 50 summons on the Beginner Banner. Legendary pity is 50 on Standard or Mini, and 20 on the Beginner Banner.

How many pulls until a guaranteed Secret unit?

10,000 summons on the Standard Banner. The Mini and Beginner banners cannot drop Secret units at all, so pulls there do not count toward this pity.
